The Riviera 78 Motor Yacht is an award-winning 81.5-foot luxury motoryacht introduced by leading Australian yacht builder Riviera Yachts at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in 2022. A triumph of form, function, and aesthetic beauty, the 78 MY is a luxurious, high-performance craft with offshore capabilities, perfect for the liveaboard yachting lifestyle.
From stern to bow, the 78 MY impresses. In dock, onlookers will admire (and perhaps envy) this yacht’s classic, sophisticated lines reminiscent of stately ocean liners. Those lucky enough to step aboard will first encounter the enormous swim platform, first noting the large watersports garage, capacious enough to store fishing equipment, kayaks, inflatables, and more. Two stairs on either side of the garage lead the way to the elegant but inviting aft deck lounge. Here, you will find a plush transom seat, L-shaped settee with folding dining table, and a stylish wet bar with fridge, sink, double barbecue station, and an icemaker.
Entering the serene salon through a stainless-steel framed door, you might glance at the opening starboard window, perfect for connecting exterior and interior. As you step foot inside, you’ll be greeted by a stunning high-spec aft galley that gives kitchens on dry land a run for their money. Impeccable glossy cabinetry predominates here, imbuing the space with a rich, polished feel. This space is well equipped, with a four-zone Miele cooktop, double sink, two Miele ovens, and two enormous refrigerators with two freezer drawers - perfect for long voyages. A lounge area is located just forward, with an L-shaped sofa and matching ottoman to starboard, with a further sofa to port.
Low-profile stairs lead up to the flybridge, where the helm awaits its skipper. This space can be customized to the owner’s specifications, with options for an enclosed flybridge or open daybridge layout. One of the standout features here is the triple helm, with two matching companion chairs on either side of the captain’s chair. Whoever commands this vessel will enjoy state-of-the-art navigation equipment and electronics beneath a superb sunroof.
A sedate lounge sits just behind the helm, but the social hub of the flybridge is sure to be the al fresco aft deck. A U-shaped lounge wraps around a timber dining table, with a complete wet bar conveniently nearby. If the weather is drizzly, do not fear - this spot is covered by the hard top.
Below deck, discover four well-appointed staterooms and an optional crew quarters (accessed separately from the main accommodation). The standout room is, of course, the full-beam owner’s suite, located amidships. This spacious cabin features a hi-low adjustable electric king-sized bed with plenty of walkaround room. This space enjoys ample natural light thanks to large, tinted hull windows, while opening portholes invite in the fresh sea air. A vanity/desk unit with drawer storage sits to starboard, while a chaise longue with backrest can be found to port. The en suite is no less luxurious, boasting a glass walk-in shower with a spa-like teak shower seat. Two vessel sinks, heated towel rails, and a separate room for the toilet add further comfort and privacy.
A portside guest cabin features two single beds that, with the touch of a button, connect to form a double. In addition to plenty of storage, a hanging locker, entertainment center and hull window, this cabin enjoys private access to the day head, which features a fully enclosed shower. To starboard, a further guest room features two adult-sized Pullman beds, hanging locker, hull window, and shares access to the day head with the portside guest room. At the bow, the VIP suite offers comfort worthy of the name, with a large walkaround bed and private bathroom.
The 78 MY is equipped with two standard MANV12 engines with 1,550HP apiece. For those who want more power, opt for the twin 1800HP or 2000HP MANV12 engines. With room for 10,200 liters of fuel, owners can enjoy long, leisurely cruises no matter what power package they choose.
