The Sabre 36 Flybridge Sedan is a 36-foot luxury Downeast-style flybridge motor yacht that was launched by the iconic Maine-based builder Sabre in 2002. Though no longer in production this vintage model retains its luster on the used market thanks to its impeccable build-quality, hand-crafted finish and heritage good looks, with a traditional paint-job, teak brightwork, classic lines and a handsome, old-world profile among the features that stand out. An updated take on the lobster boats of historic New England, this vessel impresses with modern amenities like an open-air flybridge, a rugged fiberglass hull, cutting edge propulsion and deluxe living spaces throughout.
Head up to the al-fresco bridge to exploit a sun-kissed elevated zone complete with a piped leather sofa and a pair of swivel seats facing an upper-helm. At this heavy-duty dashboard you can expect goodies like power-steering, joystick handling, Side Power thrusters, Raymarine MFD screens, Simrad VHF radio, autopilot, a mounted compass and a stereo system linked to the vessel’s speakers. Though the bridge is open to the elements you can also manually erect a Bimini roof in mere minutes for additional shade and shelter.
Descend down a timber-lined set of ladder steps and into the aft-cockpit, where you will find room for your fishing gear, optional bait-prep and wet-bar facilities or space for plush outdoor sofas. Also available back here is a starboard transom gate providing access out onto a hydraulic bathing platform robust enough to take swimmers and inflatable tenders alike. Meanwhile, out on the foredeck, there is yet more room to soak up the rays or cast a line from a lengthy bow platform lined by high guardrails.
The star of the show on this yacht has to be a main-deck salon surrounded by 360-degrees of mullioned glazing. In here you can enjoy sophisticated timber surrounds, an L-shaped leather sofa, a grain-matched wood dining table, cabinet space and room for a home entertainment system. Further forward there is another helm station and a skipper’s door out to the side-deck.
Embrace the Herreshoff-style ambiance down on the lower-deck, where varnished American cherrywood, a teak and holly sole and hand-crafted cabinets present a warm and homely vibe. The galley sits on a sunken level with an atrium-style opening allowing for plenty of natural light, and comes with a two-zone stovetop, Corian countertops, a microwave oven and under-counter refrigeration. Also available down here is a broad owner’s cabin for two positioned up by the bow. Featuring plenty of porthole windows, a chunky skylight, integrated cedar-lined storage and a double island bed, this cabin also boasts direct access into the yacht’s main head, where timber joinery, a sink, a flush toilet and a dedicated shower stall await.
Powered by a pair of 370HP Yanmar 6LYA diesel engines, you can expect top speeds of up to 30 knots and cruising speeds somewhere in the range of 18 to 24 knots. A fuel capacity of 300 gallons and a reinforced deep-V hull promote long-range cruising with an efficient and stable running style.
