The Pershing 62 is a 62-foot high-speed cruising yacht that was launched by the Ferretti-owned, Italian yacht-building firm Pershing in 2013. An updated take on a popular model from a decade earlier, this yacht looks sharp and aggressive from profile and delivers a muscular and pacey ride out on the water. Yet for all the aerodynamic curves, silver livery and razor-sharp edges, this is very much a yacht built around the guest experience. Stylish contemporary interiors deliver both elegance and comfort, while a main-deck layout emphasizing open-air enjoyment makes this the ideal yacht for warm-weather cruising. An enduringly popular option for those who like to combine speed with entertainment, Pershing have sold dozens of 62 models to clients around the globe since the vessel was first released.
A modular sunpad out on the foredeck for up to four sunbathers is matched by another sunpad to transom with space for three with comfortable headrests. You will also find a Besenzoni passerelle back here, along with side-steps down to a hydraulic, teak-lined swimming platform and a tender garage that can easily store a modern Williams jet tender. Back up in the cockpit you will discover a transom sofa, an L-shaped dining sofa and a wet-bar station with a grill, an ice-chipper and plenty of chilled storage, making this a great place to enjoy al-fresco aperitifs with a side of barbecued shrimp.
Glass doors and a glazed bulkhead can be fully retracted for a superb connection between indoors and out, while a sunroof and single-pane side windows provide plenty of natural illumination. The main-deck salon boasts pale oak flooring, lacquered wengewood surfaces, Poltrona Frau leather furnishings, silver veneer accents and funky strip lighting for an undeniably modern feel. There is a huge U-shaped sofa to port surrounding an extending table, while handsome cabinetry to starboard hides a home entertainment system linked to a set of waterproof Bose surround-sound speakers. Up front there are a pair of leather helm chairs facing a dashboard with joy-stick maneuvering, thruster controls, a pair of Raymarine or Garmin display-screens, engine feedback, analogue instrumentation and VHF radio.
You’ll be welcomed by an enclosed, port-side galley when taking a few steps downstairs, where you will find a skylight and a porthole window, a stainless-steel sink, a Bosch four-zone hob, a combination oven and a fridge-freezer unit. Across the rest of the lower-deck there are three en-suite staterooms for up to six overnight guests, including a VIP double to the bow, a starboard twin berth and a full-beam owner’s stateroom with a queen-sized bed, full-height closets, rounded horizontal mullions and a semi-open bathroom with a mosaic-lined shower. Curiously for a yacht of this size there is also a single crew berth to aft with its own head, for those who prefer assistance on their voyages.
A pair of 1550MHP MAN V12 diesel engines attached to Arneson Searex surface drives deliver full-throttle speeds of up to 48 knots, with steady cruising at 41 knots a minor miracle for a yacht of this heft. Even at this advanced pace you can expect a range of around 238 nautical miles, more than enough for weekend island-hopping, while a ZF ATCS Auto-trim system keeps the Pershing 62 feeling efficient, agile and balanced on the move.
