The Pershing 64 is a 66-foot luxury motor yacht launched by the Ferretti-owned, Italian yacht-building firm Pershing back in 2008. A striking futuristic profile with a silver livery, razor-sharp edges, an aerodynamic hood and oversized hull windows immediately sets this yacht apart. What’s more, this Pershing Yacht comes with super-charged engines and a robust hull that eats up waves as if they weren’t there. Yet peek inside and the muscular exterior gives way to a stylish, contemporary interior with an emphasis on comfort. No wonder, then, that the Pershing 64 won the awards for both “Best Design” and “Most Functional Yacht” in its class at the 2008 Cannes Boat Show, nor that this yacht remains a best-seller on the used and charter markets well over a decade after it was released.
A six-zone modular sunpad out on the foredeck offers a great place to luxuriate in the sun for hours on end, while another sunpad at the transom offers views out across the stern. To the very rear of the boat there are side steps down to a teak-lined, full-beam bathing platform and access to a transom garage that is large enough to store a Williams jet tender. The aft-cockpit, meanwhile, plays host to a transom sofa, an L-shaped sofa with a dining table and a port-side wet-bar station with an electric grill and an icebox.
Fully retractable hydraulic doors and windows to aft seamlessly connect the main-deck salon to the cockpit, and you will find pale oak surfaces, dark wengewood flooring, Poltrona Frau white leather furnishings, sculptural side glazing and an above-helm sunroof in here. There is a U-shaped sofa with a cocktail table to starboard, a set of smart cabinets with a home entertainment system to port and bench-style seating further forward the accompany the helm. A single helm chair faces a vertical dashboard equipped with a Raymarine E120 or Furuno navigation system, Simrad VHF, an auto-trim system, ZF bow and stern thruster controls, analogue instrumentation and joy-stick handling.
Three en-suite staterooms dominate the lower-deck, where clean lines, pale oak, sensuous carpeting and recessed lighting produce a sedate and seductive vibe. A VIP double to the bow features a double island bed, hanging lockers and plenty of hidden storage, while a starboard twin never feels cramped thanks to plentiful head clearance and carefully positioned mirrored panels. A full-beam master cabin to aft impresses with geometric hull windows, a side sofa, a work desk, a full-height closet, a queen-sized bed, bedside cabinets and a capacious bathroom with a shower stall and a double-width ceramic sink. You will also discover an atrium-style galley on this level complete with Bosch and Panasonic kitchen appliances.
Powerful 1550MHP MAN V12 or MTU diesel inboard engines connected to Arneson Searex surface drives produce top speeds of around 46 knots at half-loads, with consistent cruising clocking in at 40 knots. Should you wish to glide along at the more sedate pace of 10 knots, however, you can expect a range of some 283 nautical miles, more than enough for a spot of weekend island-hopping.
