The Pershing 72 is a muscular and stylish 73-foot luxury motor yacht first launched by Pershing, the Ferretti-owned Italian brand, at the 2007 Cannes International Boat Show. Its metallic exterior and aerodynamic lines provide a successful, sophisticated twist on the Space Age, while exclusive Poltrona Frau furnishings and upholstery grace the interiors of this yacht with a chic, sedate flair.
One of the 72’s most popular features is the electric fully retracting aft bulkhead door, which allows a seamless flow between the aft cockpit and the salon and creates a bright, open space to socialize from the helmstation to the stern sundeck. The cockpit features a substantial sunpad above the tender garage capable of accommodating a jet tender and jet-ski. For al fresco dining, an L-shaped seating area with a folding teak table is located to starboard. To port is a large silver grill situated, near access to the engine room and crew quarters below deck. On entering the sliding doors to the salon, guests are greeted with large windows and natural light which predominates throughout the space. A L-shaped leather sofa fitted into a cool, light teak booth surrounded an adjustable dining table that seats about eight with extra chairs. To port, you’ll find a sideboard that houses a pop-up TV.
The helmstation, at the forward end of the salon, is offset to the right, with two automatic adjustable seats. The steering wheel is located between the two helm seats, but the 72 drives best when you helm the joystick, helped along by responsive, powerful Arneson ASD 14L surface drives. A flat-screen LED display panels monitor engine functions, tab trim position, and drive. A large retractable sunroof is located above the helm, perfect for opening up to the air and light. At the foredeck, sun worshippers will enjoy an enormous sunpad.
The galley is located between the main deck and below deck, with a large storeroom below it. This innovative positioning takes advantage of a main deck above the waterline, which provides hull depth to place the galley half a deck down with further room for the cabins below. This means that the galley is separated from the living areas and thoroughfares on this model, unusual for a yacht of this size.
Below deck and aft, a large and well-appointed en suite owner’s cabin features a sedate platform bed with a mirror above that enhances the natural light from the hull windows. At the bow is a generous VIP suite with ensuite bathroom. The third cabin is located portside, with two twin beds, although there is an optional layout which converts this space to a lower lounge area.
The Pershing 72 is equipped with two 1,823hp MTU 12V 2,000 M93 diesel engines which reach top speeds of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots.
