Today the city attracts visitors from nearby New York and beyond, who come for upscale relaxation, fun on the beach and boating experiences to remember for a lifetime. Boaters in this beautiful corner of New Jersey can spend the morning leisurely patrolling the backwaters before heading due north to access to wide expanses of Sandy Hook Bay, while more ambitious yachters can round Sandy Hook Point itself to hunt down saltwater gamefish across the endless reach of the Atlantic Ocean.

Alongside countless private jetties and wharfs facing the Bay there are five linked facilities by the heart of town in Monmouth Beach, creating one large marina complex that welcomes vessels of all types. The Monmouth Sailing Center features 135-slips and full-service facilities, while next-door you will find both the Channel Club and the Freedom Boat Club of Monmouth, two local institutions that together offer around 140-slips, boat rentals, an on-site seafood restaurant and a vibrant tiki bar. Next up is the Atlantis Yacht Club, a country-club style venue with tennis courts, a pool, a plush club-house and 55 wet-slips for boats up to 70-feet in length. The final marina facing Shrewsbury Bay is the Wharfside Manor Marina, a docking point set in a condo complex with a casual vibe and dozens of floating slips.

Head south out of the town to find a range of large marinas on Manhassett Creek and Branchport Creek. Down here there’s destinations like the 63-slip Patten Point Yacht Club, the 86-slip Kelly’s Landing Marina, the 70-slip Pleasure Bay Yacht Basin and the vast 135-slip The Landing at Oceanport, among others, all within a five-to-ten-minute drive from Monmouth Beach. There’s also a set of large, full-service marinas to the north of the city, including the Navesink Marina and the Edgewater Marina, perfect for those boaters heading up to Sandy Hook Bay or beyond. If you would like to participate in races and regattas while in town then your best bet is to check out the Shrewsbury Sailing & Yacht Club, a welcoming hub of boating that has been holding events throughout the spring and summer since it was founded back in 1936.
